RAWALPINDI: As many as 12 people lost their battle against Covid-19 and 49 others tested positive in the district of Rawalpindi on Monday.

In the last 24 hours, 1,050 samples were tested and the positivity rate was recorded at 4.66pc.

As per the data released by the District Health Authority, 11 of the new patients were from Rawal Town, nine were from Rawalpindi Cantonment, five from Taxila, four each from Potohar Town, Jhelum and Attock, three from AJK, two from Kallar Syedan and KP while one each from Islamabad, Gujar Khan, Kotli Sattian, Murree and Chakwal.

At present, 90 patients are admitted to eight health facilities, including 41 in the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, 36 in Fauji Foundation Hospital, four each in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, two in District Headquarters Hospital and one each in Attock Hospital, Bilal Hospital and Hearts International Hospital.

So far, 5,389,035 people, including 44,613 health workers, have been vaccinated against the disease since the start of the vaccination drive on March 10, 2021.

Four of the patients are on ventilators in critical condition, 33 are stable and 53 are on double oxygen support.

Munawer Azeem adds: A further decrease was seen in the number of cases in the federal capital as 75 people were found infected with the virus on Monday compared to 145 on Sunday.

However, a male patient in the age group of 30-39 succumbed to the disease.

In the last 24 hours, 3,502 tests were conducted and the positivity rate remained 2.14pc.

The officials said 21 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, followed by 19 in 20-29, 10 in 50-59, seven each in 0-9, 10-19, seven 40-49, three in 60-69 and one in 70-79.

Likewise, five cases were reported from F-10, four from G-13, three each from Rawat and F-7, two each from E-11, F-8 and F-6, and one each from Loi Bher, G-10, G-9, G-6, G-8 and D-12.

The capital has 4,469 active cases out of which 101 are admitted in hospitals and the rest home isolated. The officials said 87 of the patients were on oxygen and 11 on ventilators.

The tally of cases in the capital reached 133,112 (76,831 males and 56,281 females), the officials said. Out of the total, 29,274 cases were reported in the age group of 30-39, 26,240 in 20-29, 19,925 in 40-49, 15,264 in 50-59, 14,590 in 0-9, 11,643 in 10-19, 9,749 in 60-69, 4,371 in 70-79 and 1,540 in 80 and above.

The death toll from Covid-19 increased to 999 and out of the total, 288 (175 males and 113 females) were in the age group of 60-699,256 (166 males and 90 females) in 70-79, 171 (104 males and 67 females) in 50-59, 140 (93 males and 47 females) in 80-89, 69 (45 males and 24 females) in 40-49, 35 (18 males and 17 females) in 30-39, 29 (17 males and 12 females) in 90 and above, seven (two males and five females) in 20-29, three (two males and one female) in 0-9 and one (male) in 10-19.
