PESHAWAR: The Khyber Teaching Hospital is the first government hospital in the province to get ISO certification.

The development came on completion of hospital’s audit by a UK-based firm, which declared KTH to be in accordance with the international standards (ISO 9001:2015).

This has been made possible due to the efforts and hard work of the present board of governors and the hospital’s management.

The firm, Total Quality System, thoroughly reviewed performance of all the departments, the medical equipment, implementation of patients and staff rights as well as the quality management.

According to the hospital management, getting accreditation from ISO was a big challenge for it as the hospital built in 1976 faced many difficulties in adapting to the modern requirements. It was impossible without hard work and team efforts.

It said patients would be provided with the safest and most effective treatment facilities that are in line with ISO quality management. Facilities, technologies and staff skills would be further enhanced and strengthened with positive changes and discoveries in the fields of medicine.
