PESHAWAR, Nov 26: Immigration authorities at Peshawar airport arrested an Afghan national, who was trying to board a Saudi airline flight on bogus travel documents, said an official.

Hijratullah, son of Haji Mohammad Sher, a resident of Surkh Rod district of Nangarhar province, was arrested when he presented his Afghan passport No OR-745265 to Inspector Aziz Khan, FIA (Immigration) Deputy Director Inamullah Khan Gandapur said.

He was trying to board a Riyadh-bound flight for onward journey to London in the name of Ajmal Kochi. The accused had been issued original Pakistan and England visas on a bogus passport, he said.

The accused confessed that he had changed picture on the passport issued by the Afghan Embassy in London. He had also obtained driving licence and credit cards issued in London in the name of Ajmal Kochi, the immigration official said.

During the interrogation, Hijratullah told the FIA interrogators that his paternal uncle Bahadar Sher had paid Rs1 million to a human smuggler having his shop in Karkhano markets.

The family of Hijratullah was living in Hayatabad phase-I and if Bahadar Sher was arrested the network of human traffickers would be exposed, the official said, adding that the human smuggler would have links with those Pakistanis who were running the illegal business.

Hijratullah had also made documents to support his case for political asylum. One of the documents issued by British Home Office in London to Ajmal Kochi, asked him to appear before the Independent Immigration Appellate Authorities for seeking political asylum, Mr Gandapur said.

He said they had handed over the accused to the FIA passport circle for futher investigation.
