GUJAR KHAN: A police constable, who was returning home from Kallar Syedan, was found shot dead near Chanali village in the jurisdiction of Kallar Syedan police.

According to police sources, Moeen Asif, a resident of Bhatta area of Gujar Khan, was temporarily residing with his in-laws in Chanali village.

He was returning to his residence from Kallar Syedan Khidmat Markaz after duty hours on Saturday night in civvies when he was shot dead by unknown assailants.

The body of the constable was found on Sunday morning along with his motorbike. City Police Officer Rawalpindi Omar Saeed Malik took notice of the incident and directed SSP investigation Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah and SDPO Kahuta Tahir Sikandar to investigate the murder. The body was shifted to THQ hospital Kallar Syedan for medico-legal and a case was registered afterwards.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by her in-laws in Mirza Kamili village of Gujar Khan on Sunday.

According to police, the husband of the victim resided abroad and the couple was issueless. DSP Tahir Kazmi along with a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and arrested three suspects.

The body of the woman was shifted to the THQ hospital. Police have started an investigation after registering a case against the suspects.
