PO got freed by family

GUJRANWALA, Nov 25: A proclaimed offender was got freed by his family members after launching an attack on a raiding police party in Kamoki on Friday. Reports said that PO Irfan alias Mana Butcher was wanted by the Daska police in several criminal cases. On a tip-off that the accused was present in his house in Salamatpura, a police team led by ASI Aziz Ahmad raided there and arrested him. As he was being taken to the police station, family members of the accused, including his father and brothers, attacked the police party and got him freed. The accused also manhandled and ripped to shreds the uniform of constable Javed Ahmad and escaped.

Police have registered a case against all the accused and are investigating.

SHIFTED: Former MPA Mian Mazher Javed, who was arrested for injuring Ladheywala SHO Haji Muzzamil Ahmad during a clash on by-election on PP-97 seat some four days ago, was shifted to Cantonment police station from Model Town.

The arrested former MPA would be produced before the local Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 on Saturday (today).

ACQUITTED: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 acquitted three accused involved in a kidnap for ransom case after the prosecution failed to prove the charges against them here on Friday.

Reports said that accused Asghar, Saifullah and Zafarullah had allegedly kidnapped Nazir Ahmad from Ghakkhar town when he was on his way on Dec 24 last year and kept him in an illegal confinement. While a sessions court bailiff raided there and recovered him.

EXHUMED: The body of a woman, buried after being declared unclaimed by Cantonment police, was exhumed on Friday and handed over to her heirs on the orders of a local court.
