THATTA: Sadiq Hussain Khawaja, a socio-political campaigner, died in Karachi at the age of 77 and was buried in his ancestral graveyard in Jherruck on Saturday.

Mr Khawaja had run a sustained campaign from the platform of his ‘Quaid-i-Azam Yaadgaar Committee’ on the basis of some documentary evidence to claim that the Father of the Nation was born in Jherruck (then part of Thatta).

His campaign, stretched over the 2016-19 period, had taken the claim to the Sindh Assembly after numerous seminars were held at different places, including the University of Sindh. The claim had triggered debates in and outside the elected house.

The evidence he had produced included the Quaid’s primary education record in Jherruck. A large number of his campaign fellows, local political activists and people from different walks of life attended the funeral.
