ISLAMABAD: An explanation was sought from subdivisional police officers (SDPOs) of five circles and show-cause notices were issued to six station house officers (SHOs) for not responding to public complaints on time and failure to arrest proclaimed offenders (POs).

A spokesman said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Ahsan Younas took action against the officers after receiving complaints against them in an open court in his office.

“The police chief has taken stern notice of delays caused by SDPOs Shahzad Town, Bhara Kahu, Sihala, Secretariat and Koral circles in submitting their replies against marked applications referred by him to them.”

Show-cause notices were issued to SHOs of Aabpara, Secretariat, Sihala, Khana, Koral and Bhara Kahu over their failure to trace and arrest POs.

In a statement, Mr Younas said departmental action would be taken against police officers found to be involved in causing delays in submitting progress reports for marked public complaints.

He directed them to resolve public complaints on priority and submit their replies to complaints lodged during the open court.
