ISLAMABAD: Policemen came under fire in G-14 after they tried to stop suspects on Tuesday.

However, they remained unharmed.

SI Mohammad Iqbal Gujar and head constables Mohammad Arif and Naveed Iqbal were on patrol duty when they spotted three persons acting suspiciously in street 37 of G-14/2.

One of the policemen signaled the suspects to stop but instead they opened fire on them. The police team retaliated but the attackers managed to escape. The official vehicle of the police was damaged by the suspects’ gunshots.

Police have registered a case against the three suspects with Golra police station under section 324, 353, 186 and 427.

According to a police spokesman, in view of the increase in the number of robberies and snatching incidents, police presence has been increased in G-13 and G-14.

On Jan 17, a policeman was martyred and two suspected terrorists were killed in a shootout in Islamabad’s G-8 sector on Jan 17.
