RAWALPINDI: Fog has gripped several areas of the twin cities following the recent spell of rain.

As per the Met Office, fog will persist in both cities on Wednesday morning.

The most affected areas were Chaklala, Taramri, those located near Soan River, G-10, G-11 and adjoining areas.

Visibility in some areas reduced to zero, a Met Official told Dawn, adding that after the sun came out, foggy conditions in most areas subsided as warm rays of the sun evaporated moisture in the air.

“Usually, fog continues for two to three days after a strong spell of rain,” he said, adding that the temperature will drop in the coming days from 4°C degrees Celsius to 1°C but it will rise again.

However, mercury will rise gradually throughout February and no rain was predicted in the coming week in the Potohar region, the official said.

Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country and cold and dry weather is expected while dense fog is likely to prevail in upper Sindh, plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Met Office official said.

Two inches of snowfall was recorded in Babusar while 0.5 inches was recorded in Bagrote and Murree.

The lowest minimum temperature recorded on Tuesday was Leh 13°C, Kalam 10°C, Ziarat, Kalat -9°C, Gupis, Astore -8°C, Parachinar, Skardu -7°C, Malamjabba -6°C, Quetta, Bagrote -5°C, Zhob -4°C, Hunza -3°C, Pulwama, Shupiyan, Baramulla, Chitral, Drosh, Dalbandin -2°C, Dir, Anantnag, Nokkundi, Cherat, Rawalakot and Murree -1°C.
