DADU: A five-member team of Dadu police on Sunday started an investigation into the murder of a class-VIII girl, Nageena Chandio, whose trussed-up body with visible marks of intense torture was found dumped in a farm near Mehar town on Friday (Jan 21).

District health officer Dr Abdul Hameed citing the post-mortem examination report had said that marks of injuries inflicted with some sharp object were found on the legs, arms, back and other parts of the body.

The hands and legs of the 16-year-old girl were tied with ropes, police said.

Her father, Roshan Chandio, had lodged a complaint at the Mehar police station on Jan 19 stating that his daughter was feared to have been kidnapped. Two days later, her body was found in the farm located near Mohib Ali Junejo village within the jurisdiction of the Radhan police station of Dadu district. Eventually, a murder FIR against three unknown suspect was registered at the Sita Road town police station.

Dadu SSP Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh on Sunday constituted a five-member investigation team under Mehar DSP Mohammad Younis Rodhanani.

The probe team recorded statements of the victim’s family members and collected information from some residents of the area. Circumstantial evidence from the crime scene had already been collected.

Considering it a blind case, police were using modern technology to find a clue to the culprits.
