LAHORE: Led superbly by national amateur champion Omar Khalid with Saim Shazli and Yashal Shah excelling in supporting roles, Karachi Golf Course lifted the Royal Palm Golf Team Championships here on Sunday, edging hosts Royal Palm by just two strokes.

Teenaged Omar fired a final round 72 while Yashal and Saim chipped in with 76 each as KGC finished on 699 after three rounds with Royal Palm finishing on 701 despite Hussain Hamid’s 71 while Lahore Gymkhana took third place on 707.

There was consolation for Hussain (227), who took the individual gross title by one shot ahead of Omar and Mohammad Shoaib. Lahore Gymkhana’s Salman Jahangir was fourth on 230, two ahead of Qasim Ali Khan. Ahmed Jibran won the Challenge Shield for the best score.

Syeda Iman Ali Shah had the best individual gross score in the ladies’ competition, ahead of Bushra Fatima and Tehmina Ahmed. Shabana Waheed had the best net score among ladies.
