DADU: Gathering of five or more people in Sann town has been prohibited under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in view of increasing cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 pandemic, a notification issued on Sunday evening by Jamshoro Deputy Commissioner retired Captain Fareeduddin Mustafa said.

The ban on public gathering has been imposed on the eve of the 118th birth anniversary of veteran Sindhi nationalist leader G.M. Syed.

Followers and supporters of G,M. Syed hold many gatherings at and around Syed’s grave in Sann town under the flag of their respective nationalist parties and groups unless such a ban is imposed in view of the pandemic.

The DC has directed the Jamshoro SSP to take effective measures to prevent public gatherings in line with the ban.
