MARDAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash has directed the relevant officials to complete the ongoing development projects in Mardan division according to schedule so that people could benefit from them.

He was chairing a meeting of the officers belonging to different departments in Mardan the other day. Commissioner Mardan division Syed Abdul Jabar Shah, deputy inspector general of police Yaseen Khalil, deputy commissioners of Mardan and Swabi and other officials were present on the occasion.

The chief secretary was given a briefing about various development projects in the division. It was stated that Mardan-Swabi road would be completed soon.

The officials said that completion of Pehur High Level Canal project was in its final stage.

On this occasion, Abdul Jabar claimed that the construction work on Bacha Khan Medical College would be completed within next two months. He said that work on Benazir Children Hospital and Girls Cadet College, Mardan was also in the final stages.

The chief secretary said that funds had been released to all the departments, which should be used judiciously.

ROBBERS HELD: Police claimed to have arrested two members of a robbers’ gang in Sheikh Maltoon Town here and recovered stolen items from them.

Officials of the town police station on Friday told mediapersons that they had received complaints about robbery incidents in the town.

They said a police team succeeded in arresting two persons, Zakirullah and Sajid of Masri Abad, for their involvement in the robberies.

The officials said that stolen items, including 12-tola gold, two watches, two laptops, two mobiles, four pistols and Rs50,000 cash, had been recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have resolved the murder case of a resident of Sawaldher locality and arrested his fiancée along with her paramour.

Mardan DPO Dr Zahidullah said Jabar police station had registered an FIR against unknown accused on the complaint of relatives of the victim, Amjid, who was killed on Dec 18 last.

He said the police team arrested the fiancée of deceased Amjid along with her alleged paramour, identified as Kamran, and both had confessed to the murder during interrogation.
