LAHORE, Nov 21: Six matches were played on the first day of the qualifying round of the National grass court tennis championship at Bagh-i-Jinnah on Monday. Five matches were held in the men’s singles and one in boys’ under-17.

On Tuesday matches in all categories including U-13, U-17 (boys’ and girls’), ladies’ singles and veterans’ doubles will be played.

Indian players have also arrived here to compete in the men’s singles event.

Results:

Men’s singles: Tanveer Munir bt Ayaz Khan 6-1, 6-2; Talaal Afridi bt Gohar Riaz 6-0, 6-1; Ali Sheikh bt Shayan Ahmed 6-4, 3-6, 7-5; Usama Waheed bt Adil Ashraf 6-0, 6-0.

U-17: Syed Zohair Raza bt Suleman 6-0, 6-0.
