ISLAMABAD, Nov 21: Over 100,000 volunteers of National Commission for Human Development would be involved in National Volunteer Movement (NVM) activities wherever and whenever required. was stated by Dr Naseem Ashraf, chairman NCHD, while speaking at a press conference on Monday.

He said it was the National Commission for Human Development which had introduced the concept of volunteerism in the country and was effectively utilizing its volunteers in various literacy related activities.

When asked, Dr Naseem clarified that it would not be duplication and NCHD would be complementing NVM’s efforts in the office located at Pakistan Boy Scout Headquarters in Islamabad. earthquake stricken areas.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on NVM Muhammad Ali Durrani, also present on the occasion, said the volunteers, who would get themselves registered with the NVM would be trained in Islamabad and sent to the forward base camps set up in Batagram, Balakot, Bagh and Mansehra.

In response to a question, he said, organizations such as civil defence, girls guide and boys scout had also been involved in the NVM and their support would be welcomed at all levels.

Sumaira Malik, State Minister for Tourism who a couple of days ago had been asked to look after federal ministry of youth affairs said, NVM was need of the hour and would go a long way in reconstructing the devastated areas.
