POPULATION growth has become one of the pressing issues of the time. Being a resident of Phuleli in Hyderabad, I consider it to be a threat to the whole district. The population of Hyderabad district has been increasing by about two per cent each year. With this burgeoning growth rate, the grievances of the residents are also piling up on a daily basis.

The Phuleli region is surrounded by many sub-regions like Paretabad, Muslim Town, Rehman Town, Hashmat Bano, Al Fazal Town, etc.

However, there is only a single bridge, known as the Phuleli Bridge, which connects Phuleli to Hyderabad’s metro areas. As a result, unending traffic jams continue to pester commuters; students get late for their classes, professionals for their offices, businessmen for their shops, and ambulances face difficulties in reaching hospitals in time.

Regrettably, the civil administration has turned a blind eye to people’s woes. The officials are just enjoying the perks and privileges of their posts instead of addressing public issues.

The authorities concerned need to resolve Phuleli’s traffic jam issue along with other problems that are faced by the residents of Hyderabad on a daily basis.
