BAJAUR, Jan 25: The Bajaur Agency political administration arrested two engineers who installed illegal FM radio stations in various mosques and Madaris of the Agency.

The political authorities held Engineer Bashir Ahmad, son of late Maulana Mohammad Sharif, and his colleague, Juma Gul, on charges of installing FM radio channels and sent to jail under Section 40 of Frontier Crime Regulations (FCR).

The accused went underground immediately after the fall of the Taliban government in Afghanistan and on Friday he was arrested from his residence.

The officials said that Ulema and religious party leaders used the local radio channels against the government during the US attacks in Afghanistan and gave statements in favour of the Taliban government.

Last year the political authorities raided a number of seminaries and mosques and recovered around seven illegal FM radio stations.

An official told Dawn that Bashir had also installed such radio channels in various cities of Afghanistan including Kandahar, Kabul, Herat, Jalalabad during the Taliban government.

VACCINES: The Agency Headquarters Hospital is facing shortage of Meningocon vaccines which are needed for Haj pilgrims, and the intending pilgrims are going to Mingora, Peshawar, Timergara, and Mardan to get the vaccines.

The pilgrims are administered the vaccines before leaving for Saudi Arabia to perform Haj or Umra. The Agency surgeon informed Dawn that last year the hospital demanded 350 Meningocon vaccines, but the National Institute of Health sent only 50 vaccines for the pilgrims.
