Unholy alliances

THIS refers to the opinion piece ‘An unholy alliance’ (Dec 3) by former special assistant to prime minister (SAPM) on health. The irony is that he was SAPM with ministerial powers in the Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination, but he did not mention anything about the steps he took during his stint as the top boss.

This is what ails our society. When you are in a position of authority and can fix things, your priorities are misplaced, to say the least. If someone like the learned doctor as the head could not even address, let alone fix the issues, what is the fun in writing about them now?

We get to hear from all the retired or out-of-office people how the problems can be fixed, and history tells us that all those who make it to the top start to look elsewhere. I wonder if the doctor was waiting to become the prime minister to fix the issues he has discussed in the said write-up.
