KARACHI, Nov 18: The Bin Qasim town municipal administration has lashed out at the KWSB for not taking interest in improving the water and sewerage system of the town as a result of which complaints of short supply of water and even contaminated water continues to pour in the town office.

Presiding over a public meeting arranged to listen to the complaints pertaining to water and electricity problems, the Town Nazim Mohammad Umer Jat deplored that on one hand, the KWSB had provided its staff in only two out of the seven union councils of the town and on the other, most of the pipelines remained dry.

He said that although most of the lines had become obsolete, the KWSB officials were taking no measures to replace them and as a result of which complaints of contaminated water were on the rise.

“How strange is this whenever we ask the KWSB officials to replace the outlived pipelines, they come up with a readymade answer that there are no funds for the purpose in the budget,” he said, adding that the town’s water and sewerage system could improve considerably if the KWSB spend even 10 per cent of the total revenue it generates from the town in question.

Criticizing the KESC for not setting up even a single complaint centre in the whole of the town, he said that although there was a general complaint that expensive electricity gadgets often gets out of order owing to power fluctuation, the KESC officials were taking no measures to rectify the fault responsible for this power fluctuations.

SHORTAGE: Acute water shortage continues to persist in various parts of the city owing to faulty water distribution system and unannounced cut applied in the water quota of certain localities.
