AWAITED RESULTS

AWAITED RESULTS: It has been almost a year since the Open Testing Service (OTS) conducted a test for OG-3 officer position in Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, but the results have not been announced yet. Whenever the testing service is contacted, it comes up with a standard answer: “We are making lists”. This is an unacceptably irresponsible behaviour for a private testing service. The authorities concerned should take serious notice of the issue.

DANGEROUS POTHOLES: The road from Ellahabad to Lahore is in a dilapidated condition with potholes all along the path. I have been the victim of an accident on this road because of these potholes. The situation can aggravate during the winters because of fog and low visibility. It is high time the authorities listened to public woes and did something to address their issues.

OPTIMISING TOURISM: Tourism has the potential to boost the national economy as Pakistan has some of the world’s best tourist destinations that made the country ‘The best holiday destination’ in 2020. Singapore, despite being a small country, has higher GDP than Pakistan because of tourism-related inflows. We also need to tap this potential and make optimum use of our tourist destinations. Taking the required steps would be a much better way ahead than asking for aid from international donors.

OPEN GUTTERS: This refers to the letter ‘Open gutters’ (Nov 1). The problem has assumed deadly proportions as it has already claimed several lives. Recently, a tragic incident took place in our area where an open manhole claimed the life of a young child. What is even more tragic is the fact that the same manhole had already claimed two lives, but nothing was done in this regard. The authorities concerned are requested to take prompt action to ensure that no more deaths happen owing to open drains.
