LAHORE, Nov 16: A 16-member team of paramilitary personnel from Pakistan crossed into India via the border checkpost at Wagah on Wednesday to attend the biannual meeting between Pakistan Rangers and Indian Border Security Force personnel.

The Pakistani delegation, led by Maj-Gen Javed Zia, director general of Pakistan Rangers in Sindh, will be attending the meeting in the Indian city of Chandigarh from Nov 16-19.

The deputy instructor general of India’s BSF, A.K. Surollia, received the delegation.

Maj-Gen Javed Zia said the meeting would take up issues such as “inadvertent border crossing by people, defence constructions by India on the working boundary, smuggling of narcotics and other contraband items from both sides and other border-related matters”.

Mr Surollia while talking to the media said that the BSF and Pakistan Rangers had an “ideal working relationship” even during the Kargil incident.—APP
