GUJRANWALA, Nov 16: Police on Wednesday informed the Edhi Foundation chief that his centre in Gujranwala was not sealed but a constable was deployed there to protect relief goods. Maulana Abdul Sattar Edhi has been intimated through a letter sent to him in reply to his memorandum.

Civil Lines SHO Arif Mahmood Khan said that relief goods were recovered from the house of accused Javed Ahmad while his accomplice along with the main accused was arrested in accordance with the law.

The SHO pointed out that a magistrate had handed over relief goods to the army. He was of the view that Maulana Edhi should be thankful to the police for wiping out blacksheep from his centre. He said the Edhi Foundation office was opened for checking of its record.

Italian team: A delegation of Italian traders visited the local ceramics industry and participated in a convention on quality review of products held here on Wednesday.

The team, led by Gewani Bosti, took keen interest in ceramic products and termed them quality stuff. He said Italy had been providing quality ceramic products to world market for the last 50 years.

Ceramics industry chief executive Mahmood Iqbal and directors Sheikh Javed Iqbal and Sheikh Pervaiz Iqbal welcomed the Italian visitors at the convention and briefed them about the industry.

SEIZED: The district administration and police seized public transport vehicles in large numbers to carry ruling party activists and councillors to Qila Dedar Singh to attend the meeting being addressed by the Punjab chief minister on Wednesday.

While commuters have to face hardships in reaching their destination as police led by magistrates seized wagons on roads after ordering passengers to vacate them.

Commuters condemned the district administration and police for impounding vehicles unlawfully.
