ISLAMABAD: Another 54 dengue cases emerged in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Thursday.

District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad Dr Zaeem Zia said out of the 33 cases, 17 were reported from rural areas and 16 from urban areas during the last 24 hours. Five patients were admitted at Pims, three at Holy Family Hospital, two at Benazir Bhutto Hospital and one each at Polyclinic and Fauji Foundation. The remaining patients were admitted at different private hospitals.

Dr Zia said five cases were reported from Tarnol, four from Koral, three from Sohan, two each from Tarlai and Bhara Kahu and one from Alipur.

The tally of dengue fever cases in the capital during the current season reached 4454, the DHO said, adding out of the total 2534 cases were reported from rural areas and 1920 from urban areas.

During the last 24 hours, indoor residual spray was carried out in 346 houses and seven fogging activities were conducted.

Rawalpindi

As many as 21 people in the garrison city contracted the dengue virus taking the tally to 3321.

According to Rawalpindi Medical University, seven patients arrived at the HFH, 11 at the BBH and three at the District Headquarters Hospital.

According to the official data, nine of the patients were in critical condition. The data showed that 3321 dengue patients have reported to the three government hospitals so far- 1919 at the HFH, 877 at BBH and 525 at the DHQ hospital.

As many as 3228 of the patients have recovered and discharged.
