Italy has reported 44 coronavirus-related deaths against 36 the day before, according the health ministry. Meanwhile, the daily tally of new infections has fallen to 5,144 from 7,569 the previous day, reports Reuters.

Italy has registered 132,819 deaths linked to Covid-19 since its outbreak emerged in February last year, the second-highest toll in Europe after Britain and the ninth-highest in the world.
