Long-term support pledged

ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: US Assistant Secretary of State Christina Rocca said on Tuesday the rehabilitation of areas of devastated by earthquake was a long-term effort that required international help.

Ms Rocca is in Pakistan with a group set up by President George Bush to raise money for relief and reconstruction after the Oct 8 quake.

“We will continue to encourage the international community to step up and help in this long-term effort,” Ms Rocca said in an interview broadcast on a Voice of America slot on a private Pakistani television.—AFP
