HEALTHY COMPETITION

HEALTHY COMPETITION: The competitive world that we inhabit today has affected the attitude of even parents and teachers who constantly compare their children and students with others. The habit of toxic comparison with acquaintances must end. Teachers and parents should inculcate a feeling of self-worth in children rather than an inferiority complex. As Denis Waitley said, failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. “Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.”

HIDEOUS PRACTICE: Milk and its products provide our body a wealth of nutrients benefits, but the available milk in the market is excessively hazardous and harmful because of admixture. From dairy farms to milk-sellers, the available milk is adulterated with water, formaldehyde, ammonium sulphate, hydrogen peroxide, and even urea and detergents to mint money. According to a report, 70 per cent of the milk available in the market is adulterated, causing health issues. The authorities concerned must curb the practice forthwith.

CHEMICALISED MILK: A recent video that went viral on the social media showed a local milk-seller talking about converting one litre of milk into 17 litres by adding chemicals. The authorities must wake up to the reality of whatever it is that is being sold in the market as milk.

WATER CONSUMPTION: During my recent internship at a textile industry, I observed that the consumption of water was massive without any recycling plant to make it reusable. There is no government policy or any restriction on industries about water usage. We need to develop a strategy in this regard or there will be no ground water available for drinking purposes. The government must provide the industrial units relevant subsidies to help them shift to modern practices and green technologies.
