CHITRAL: A woman died and three sustained injuries when the roof of a house caved in here on Sunday evening.

An official of Rescue 1122 told Dawn that the incident took place when the women were preparing dinner inside a ramshackle room.

He identified the deceased woman as wife of Muneer, saying three other in precarious condition were shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

Meanwhile, the residents of Chitral complained about the dilapidated condition of roads at an open kutcheri called by Malakand division commissioner Syed Zaheerul Islam on Sunday. Held in the town hall, the event was largely attended by the people from different areas of the district and the officers of government departments.

The residents said after taking over the roads from the communication and works department last year, the National Highway Authority carried out no repair work.

They also complained about poor quality service of different mobile companies and shortage of field staff of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company.

The commissioner directed Lower Chitral deputy commissioner Hasan Abid to hold meetings with the authorities concerned and give them deadlines to remove grievances of people.
