Two die from dengue complications

LAHORE: Two people died and 552 others tested positive for dengue in the province in the last 24 hours on Sunday.

Of them, 385 confirmed cases were reported in Lahore, 70 in Rawalpindi, 10 each in Faisalabad and Multan, eight in Gujranwala, seven each in Sheikhupura and Nankana, six each in Bahawalpur and Sargodha, five in Muzaffargarh, and four each in Layyah and Okara.

So far, 45 people have died this year due to dengue fever in Punjab.

Those who died in the last 24 hours were from Lahore. Similarly, out of 14,110 confirmed cases across the province, 10,506 cases are from Lahore. Similarly, of 2,488 patients undergoing treatment across Punjab, 1,633 patients are in Lahore hospitals.

In the last 24 hours, 391,313 indoor locations and 87,096 outdoor locations were checked in the province and larvae were destroyed at 1,439 locations.

In Lahore, 62,381 indoor places were checked for dengue larvae, and 11,716 outdoor locations.

Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch reviewed the current situation of dengue in the whole province.

He directed officials to intensify the dengue prevention activities across Punjab and appealed to take special care of cleanliness and that no garbage should be thrown in open places.

COVID: Punjab reported 136 coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 440,139.

One death was reported during this period.

During the last 24 hours, 79 people tested positive in Lahore, six each in Faisalabad and Okara, five each in Mandi Bahauddin and Bhakkar, four in Multan and three each in Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, Jhelum and Dera Ghazi Khan.
