SWABI: The first women and children hospital of Swabi district will be built in Kunda village at an estimated cost of Rs3.8 billion.

In this regard, chief minister’s adviser Abdul Karim and MPA Rangaiz Khan were given a briefing by the relevant officials here on Wednesday.

Official sources told this correspondent that the hospital would be constructed on the site of Rural Health Centre, Kunda, which would be shifted to a portion of the local government higher secondary school.

The hospital project site is located one and a half kilometres from the Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, and Gajju Khan Medical College.

Project to cost Rs3.8 billion

On this occasion, Mr Karim said the construction of 250 beds hospital would facilitate the women and children of Swabi and periphery districts.

He said the estimated cost of the project was Rs3.8 billion, which would be provided by the provincial government. He said the project would be completed in two and a half years.

Chief Minister Mahmood Khan would be the chief guest at the launching ceremony of the hospital project on Oct 31.

DEMONSTRATION: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl activists held a protest demonstration in Topi tehsil here on Wednesday against the rising prices of essential commodities in the country.

Party’s provincial general secretary Attaul Haq Darvaish and local leaders led the rally.

They criticised the PTI government for its failure to control the prices of essential commodities, making life miserable for the people. They also demanded fresh elections in the country.

Meanwhile, a four-day congregation of Jamaat Ishaat-i-Tauheed wa Sunnah would start in Panjpir on Thursday (today).

Maulana Mohammed Tayyab, chief of Jamaat Ishaat-i-Tauheed, told this correspondent that the people coming to attend the congregation would stay in tents at Panjpir for four days.

He said that religious scholars from various parts of the country would speak on the occasion.
