TAXILA: Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Friday said the G.T. Road from Taxila to Hassanabdal would be extended to six lanes to address the traffic congestion issue.

Addressing an open kutchery at TMA complex, he said the N-5 project of the national highway authority would be presented for financial approval in the next meeting of the federal cabinet.

He further said that the 10.80-km- long Taxila-Hattar road is scheduled to be completed in the next couple of months with an allocation of Rs130 million.

Taking serious notice of the poor law and order situation in the city, he directed the police authorities to provide protection to the people Taxila and Wah against armed robberies.

He said the law and order situation in the area was very poor and police performance was not satisfactory especially in eliminating narcotics dens and armed gangs of robbers.

He also took serious notice of drugs trade especially ice in the city and called upon people to inform him as well as administration about such elements involved in the trade and their white collar patrons.

He also took serious notice of the police officials denying registration of robbery cases.
