ABBOTTABAD: Veteran politician and National Assembly’s former deputy speaker Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob passed away after protracted illness here on Wednesday.

His funeral prayer was held at government college ground here on Thursday, which was attended by people from all walks of life, including politicians, businessmen and elected representatives.

Later, his body was taken to his native Narian village at Nagri Bala in Galiyat where a large number of people participated in the funeral also arranged there.

Sardar Yaqoob was elected MNA from Abbottabad on PML-Q ticket in 2007.

Meanwhile, KP Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani condoled the death of Sardar Yaqoob. In his condolence message, he expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Sardar Yaqoob and prayed for departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
