DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two senior journalists died here on Sunday.

Latifur Rehman, former president and chief patron of Dera Ismail Khan Press Club, and Mohammad Farid Leghari, were suffering from kidney disease, but they had also tested positive for coronavirus.

Mr Leghari’s funeral prayers were offered at the Kutcheri Funeral Home on Saturday night. He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard. A large number of people from different walks of life, including journalists, attended the funeral.

Funeral prayers of Latifur Rehman will be offered at Zakori Cemetery at 10am today (Monday).

Latifur Rehman was also associated with medicine business, and remained a longtime president of the chemists and druggists association.

He was admitted to a hospital here, but later shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar, where he died during treatment. He had long been associated with the Peshawar-based Daily Sarhad and the country’s main news agency APP. In those days he was also associated with Daily Surkhab Peshawar. He also launched a local weekly newspaper, Daman Rang, of which he was the editor-in-chief.

Journalist Farid Leghari was the bureau chief of Din News TV and Daily Din Newspaper in Dera Ismail Khan. He had been suffering from kidney disease for some time.
