QUETTA: Provincial Governor Syed Zahoor Ahmad Agha has said that if Balochistan has a strong economy it would strengthen the country’s economy.

Talking to federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar in Islamabad on Friday, the governor said that real development and infrastructure of society depended on a sustainable and stable economic system.

He said that in a rapidly changing world it was imperative to set national priorities in Balochistan keeping in view the requirements of modern times.

Mr Agha said: “Balochistan is of special importance in terms of its location and in terms of economic development. It is an economic and trade route to Central Asia.”

He said that in view of the mega project like China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, it was necessary to activate technical centres across the province.

The governor said small and big development projects were under way and “we should keep a close eye on all these ongoing development projects, review the quality of materials used in them and the pace of work from time to time so that the poor people got the fruits of these schemes as soon as possible”.
