KHUZDAR: A young journalist working for a Karachi-based private TV channel, Metro 1, in the industrial town of Hub lost his life in an explosion on Sunday evening.

The banned Baloch Libration Army claimed responsibility for the bomb attack.

According to the police, the journalist, identified as Shahid Zehri, was on his way home in his car when the blast occurred. He suffered critical injuries and was brought to the Trauma Centre in Karachi where he died.

There are reports that the explosive device was affixed to his car and was detonated by remote control. Police confirmed the blast and said an investigation had been launched into the incident.

Another police official Younis Raza said: “It seems to be a grenade attack.” The bomb disposal squad reached the site and collected the evidence.

The body of the 35 years old Zehri was handed over to the family after completing medico-legal formalities at the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi.
