Pakistan has reported less than 1,000 new coronavirus cases for the first time in three months as 912 cases were detected in the last 24 hours.

The last time less than 1,000 cases were recorded was on July 5 when 830 new infections were confirmed.

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, 45,619 tests were conducted during this period. The total number of cases has risen to 1,256,233 and the positivity ratio is 1.99 per cent.

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 28,058 after 26 more fatalities were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

The breakdown of cases and deaths during the last 24 hours is as follows:

  • Punjab: 393 cases, 13 deaths
  • Sindh: 286 cases, 3 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 146 cases, 10 deaths
  • Islamabad: 53 cases
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 17 cases
  • Balochistan: 14 cases
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 3 cases
