Tariq, Ameer triumph

KARACHI, Nov 10: Tariq Zafar and Syed Ameer Hasan clinched the Karachi Club Pairs bridge tournament, while Adventure won the Iqbal Day contest at KC Bridge Hall on Wednesday.

With a 65 per cent score, Tariq and Ameer led 14-team contest played on Mitchel Movement. Hamid Mohiuddin with Ziallah Baig secured second spot with score of 57.34 per cent.

From the North-South direction, Ghulam Muhammad and Jamal Nizami won with 60.38 per cent. S.P.Jamal-Ahmed Hameed finished second with 54.96 per cent.

In the Swiss Movement Iqbal Day Bridge, Adventure having S.M. Ozair, Dr. Sarfraz Ahmed, Saleem Ahmed, Ghulam Muhammad and Jamal Nizami scored 89 Victory Points (VPs) by winning all their four matches. They outplayed Abedies 25-5, Abacus 25-5 and added 20-0 against Mahmood IV and won the fourth round 19-11 against Azwer.

Candyland finished second with 68 VPs and with 64 VPs Four Bidders settled at third place.—APP
