RAWALPINDI: In an attempt to combat corruption in the police department, Punjab’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) has instructed district police chiefs to remove all officers from active field duty who have received two or more major punishments for corruption or have a bad reputation.

Furthermore, the district police officers across the province have also been directed to immediately transfer those police officers who have been posted to a police station for more than three times and who have performed cumulative service in a particular police station for more than five years.

In a directive to all district police chiefs, IGP Rao Sardar Ali Khan instructed them to remove all permanent checkposts in their respective jurisdictions except the ones established at the provincial boundaries or the entry/exit points of a district. However, snap checking may be undertaken.

Permanent check points and snap checking shall be supervised by an officer not below the rank of Sub-Inspector. Round the clock monitoring of permanent check points should be carried out through CCTV cameras.

The Additional Inspector General of Police Establishment shall obtain and submit to the IGP certificates from all police heads certifying the removal of officers who have either been awarded two or more major punishments for corruption or enjoyed a bad reputation from field duties in police stations and CIA by October 5.

A report verified by the respective RPOs certifying the transfer of police officers who have either been posted to a police station for more than three times or who have performed cumulative services in a particular police station for more than five years should also be submitted by October 5.
