PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will participate in Dubai International Expo in United Arab Emirates to attract maximum foreign investment to the province and highlight positive image of the province at international level.

Important proposed projects of the provincial government will be presented in the expo to attract foreign investment for their execution. These projects will include sectors of tourism, agriculture, industry, minerals, energy, infrastructure and information technology.

To showcase the culture and local products of the province at the international level, items related to the cultural heritage and archaeology of the province as well as local products will also be featured in the expo, according to an official statement issued here on Tuesday.

Arrangements and preparations for participation in the expo were discussed in a meeting, which was chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. The meeting was briefed about the arrangements of the provincial government for participating in the expo, proposed activities in the event and other related matters.

The meeting was informed that KP Pavilion would be set up in the expo on January 1, 2022, and various products of the province including leather, textile, handicraft, cottage and others would be exhibited.

Special Economic Zones Investment Conference on Rashkai Special Economic Zone, Ghazi Economic Zone, Chitral Economic Zone and the proposed Draban Special Economic Zone will be held on January 6 and 7.

The Mines and Minerals Investment Conference will be held on 10th and 11th January coupled with an exhibition of gemstones. A conference on tourism, culture and archeology will also be held on January 14 and 15, focusing on the integrated tourism zones.

Similarly, a conference is also scheduled to be held on January 18 and 19 on the establishment of crude oil refinery, LPG storage, bottling plants and power projects, 22 megawatts Patrak Sheringal Hydropower Project, 47 megawatts Barikot Patrak Hydropower Project, 20 megawatts Gorband Khwar Hydro, 496 megawatts Curry Mushkoor Hydropower Project and 377 megawatts Gharit Sawer Hydropower Project.

It was decided that KP Board of Investment and Trade would take the lead with regard to arrangements for the participation of the provincial government in the expo.
