RAWALPINDI: The trial of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, chief of the defunct Awami Muslim League, for waging a war against Pakistan ... is in progress and the prosecution has so far examined 20 witnesses in support of the charges, it was officially announced here today [Sept 28].A Press release issued from headquarters of Chief Martial Law Administrator … said: … The trial commenced on Aug 11, 1971. The court, however, adjourned the same day so that in order to ensure fair trial and justice Sheikh Mujibur Rahman could have a defence counsel of his own choice.

On Sept 7 … the services of Mr. A.K. Brohi and his three assistants … were procured, and the examination of the prosecution witnesses started. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in Hong Kong,] China has succeeded in determining the crystal structure of Pio’s insulin, Radio Peking announced yesterday [Sept 27]. This is a follow-up to China’s successful research in 1965 when her scientists achieved for the first time in the world the total synthesis of a biologically active protein, crystalline bovine insulin. The Radio said the follow-up research project lasting four years since 1967 had used the method of x-ray diffraction at a resolution of 2.5 angstroms.
