Speaking at a presentation regarding police reforms on Thursday, the governor directed that the process of recruitment in the police department should be made more transparent, enabling the force to perform its duties in a better way.
The governor was briefed on the affairs of the police department, including improvement in law and order situation, separation of investigation department, enforcement of accountability system, performance of police at district level, establishment of police stations and lines and the process of recruitments.

He said nearly 80 motorcycles had been handed over to the police department and these measures were aimed at making the police an effective force.
The governor said that requirements for establishing a public safety commission at provincial and district level should be met without delay. He also stressed the need for making the training compatible with the needs of modern time. He said the provision of facilities should be linked to the performance of the department and added that the process of checks and balance would be strictly implemented in the police department. “It should be ensured that in the name of efficiency and improvement, there was no use of third degree methods,” the governor instructed.
He formed a committee that would determine priorities for the resources being given by the federal and provincial governments and other donor organizations so that the possibility of wastage of funds could be averted.
He stressed the need for curtailment of administrative expenditures and added that operational expenditures should be given priority.
The governor on this occasion ordered that the district armed reserve police should vacate its Tehsil Goregathri office within two weeks and move their office to some rented building.
