KARACHI: Robber killed in encounter

KARACHI, Nov 9: A bandit was shot dead and his two accomplices were arrested in, what police claimed, an encounter early on Wednesday morning in DHA. Three armed suspects barged into a house located in Khayaban-i-Mujahid and locked up the family members in a washroom. The family activated the security system installed by a private security firm which alerted police on their helpline.

The police rushed to the house and engaged the bandits in an encounter. One of the bandits identified as Sher Afzal died in the action while his two accomplices, Dilawar and Janullah, were arrested.

Two pistols and the booty were recovered from their possession, police said.

SHOT DEAD: A former activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement was shot dead and his nephew was wounded in Jamshed Quarters area on Wednesday morning.

Police said that Habib, 28, and his nephew, Saboor Ahmed, were going somewhere on a motorcycle when came under armed attack by some unknown persons. Police said the victims were taken to the Civil Hospital where Habib was pronounced dead on arrival and Saboor Ahmed was provided treatment.
