ISLAMABAD: After registering 12 consecutive rises, the weekly inflation measured through the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) recorded a slight decline of 0.07 per cent for the combined group for the period ended on Sept 23, data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed on Friday.
For the lowest income group earning below Rs17,732 per month, the SPI declined by 0.15pc and for the group earning above Rs44,175, it dipped by 0.03pc.
This was mainly due to a decrease in the prices of bananas 7.87pc, onions 4.69pc, garlic 2.12pc, pulse moong 2.11pc, pulse mash 1.70pc, wheat flour bag 1.60pc, pulse gram 1.27pc, pulse masoor 0.27pc and rice irri & potatoes 0.18pc each. The items whose prices increased included tomatoes 14.21pc, tea Lipton 1.73pc and eggs 1.69pc.
During the week, out of 51 items, prices of 20 items increased 10 items decreased and 21 items remained constant.
