KHYBER: District police officer, Khyber, has suspended nine policemen, including two station house officers, on the charges of corruption.

A notification issued from the Police Centre in Shah Kas, Jamrud, said that Malagori SHO Amjad Shalmani was replaced by sub-inspector Jahangir Khan and Tirah SHO Shamshad by sub-inspector Shah Khalid.

However, sources said that Jahangir refused to take charge as SHO Malagori, arguing that he was instead demoted.

The notification further said that seven policemen posted at Charwazgai checkpost in Landi Kotal were suspended and the checkpost was abolished following complaints against them that they were demanding illegal money from transporters taking trade goods to Afghanistan.

They included Jannat Gul, Zain Gul, Mujahid, Musharraf, Khan Marjan, Masud Gul and Gul Nawab.

It said that the DPO removed the SHOs of Tirah and Malagori police stations and stopped their salaries while initiating an inquiry against all the suspended officials.
