KASUR: A property dealer allegedly raped a woman on Wednesday on the pretext of showing her a house on rent at Dina Nath in Phoolnagar police precincts.

Reports said the suspect called the woman who wanted to get a house on rent, and took her to a house where he allegedly raped her. The suspect managed his escape. Police have registered a criminal case and are looking for the suspect.

DROWNS: A Youth drowned in the canal on Wednesday at Sarhali in the limits of Mustafabad police station.

Muhammad Adeel, son of a schoolteacher, slipped and fell into Sarhali canal and drowned. Rescue 1122 recovered the body and police handed it over to the bereaved family after legal formalities.

RAINWATER: Deputy Commissioner Aasia Gul paid a visit to the low-lying slum areas after a heavy spell of rain lashed the city for second consecutive day on Wednesday.

In the wake of the rising complaints regarding poor drainage of rainwater in low-lying areas and negligence of local municipal committee, DC Gul constituted special teams to drain out the rainwater from Chandni Chowk, Shafiwala Chowk, Qadirabad, National Bank Chowk, Kot Rukindin, Purana Lorry Adda Chowk and Khara Road. The DC ordered permanent cleanliness of drains in the localities to avoid any inconvenience.
