LAHORE: Singer Taranum Naz performed at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, in the music series, ‘Funkar Hamaray’ of the Lahore Arts Council (LAC) on Tuesday.

She sang songs and ghazals and gave an impressive performance. During the show, Naz sang some of the hit numbers, including ‘Main Tay Mera Dilbar Jani, Sham Say Pehley, Mujh Say Pehli Si Mahabat of Noor Jehan. The programme was broadcast live on the facebook page of Alhamra Centre of Art and Culture.

Taranum Naz said she was pleased that Alhamra had started the excellent series and established a new tradition. She noted that the new generation was forgetting the traditions and the art council’s initiative was a welcome development.

“Our young generation will also have the opportunity to learn a lot from this programme,” she hoped.

According to the art council, the purpose of the music series is to pay tribute to art and the legendry artists. The council has been promoting artistes continuously to showcase their incredible talent to the world.

Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Ijaz Ahmad Minhas said the programme had been started so that people could enjoy music of the land at home. He said the ‘Funkar Humaray’ was a part of a series.

Director Art and Culture Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi said the Alhamra’s platform symbolised honour and dignity for great artistes and singers.
