KARACHI: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rahman has called for the arrest of culprits involved in the Aug 14 Mowach Goth tragedy that had claimed 13 innocent lives, says a press release.
The JI leader said this while addressing a press conference on Tuesday at the Karachi Press Club. He was flanked by local JI leader Meraj Khan Swati who had lost his wife, daughter and other relatives in the gruesome bomb and shooting incident. ANP leader Kachkol Khan also addressed the presser as another ANP leader Farman Khan also belonged to the affected family.
Hafiz Naeem further demanded of the government to uncover the findings in the case as the affected family have already showed extraordinary patience for the past 39 days.
He said that murder of 13 people in a cold-blooded fashion on Independence Day was a gruesome crime but apparently the Sindh government has decided to put the matter on the back burner.
Such behaviour by the provincial government makes it really hard for the people to keep their emotions under control, he said, adding that it was the prime responsibility of the government to safeguard the lives and possessions of masses. He further said that it is now an obligation for the government to provide full justice to the affected family.
He said that the JI leadership was in close contact with the law enforcement agencies over the issue but apparently all quarters are clueless when it comes to investigation of the case.
Hafiz Naeem said that the culprits were still at large and the situation was a question mark over the performance of LEAs in the city.
