Pakistan has reported less than 2,000 coronavirus cases for the first time since July 23, when the country recorded 1,841 infections.

The national infection tally has risen by 1,897 over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of cases recorded to 1,227,905.

Meanwhile, 81 new coronavirus-related fatalities have raised the Covid-19 death toll to 27,327. The positivity rate is 4.10 per cent.

A breakdown of Covid-19 cases and deaths reported during the last 24 hours is as follows:

  • Punjab: 880 cases, 42 deaths
  • Sindh: 661 cases, 19 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 201 cases, 14 deaths
  • Islamabad: 106 cases, 2 deaths
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 34 cases, 4 deaths
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 12 cases
  • Balochistan: 3 cases
