LAHORE: Long-shot bay filly Your Flame In Me ran out a comfortable winner in the Ginza Cup, which featured a five-race card during the day/night Lahore Winter Meeting at the floodlit Racecourse here on Sunday evening.
The Shahid Rehman-trained four-year-old daughter of Irish sire Orizaba burst in the lead while entering in to the straight and then the 1,200-metre race was in her grasp. The even-money favourite, colt Alamgirian, brought on the course after a long time, finished second one-and-a-half length back with filly Amazing Lips, a close third in photo-finish verdict.
The winner clocked one minute 13 1/5 seconds on a wet going following a morning shower in the city. Jockey Mohammad Hanif rode Your Flame In Me who registered her third successive win.
The Jockey Club of Pakistan (JCP) chairman Mohammad Nawaz Tiwana Gave away the cup.
In the Aswaj Cup the outsider long-shot colt Gondal Choice provided trainer Aleemuddin his first big success in the winter meetings. Piloted by riding boy Safdar Ali, the colt beat even-money favourite bay horse Champion Of Mind, who was ridden by jockey Tahir Abbas.
The winning owner Haji Chaudhry Asghar Ali received the cup from Lahore race Club (LRC) steward retired Colonel Naeem Sarwar after the last race.
It was a bad day for punters when only one favourite — Hidden Prince — obliged the punters while the other four events were clinched by long shots.
