Hospital in cargo containers

LAHORE, Nov 8: The Punjab government will establish a 50-bed hospital at Balakot in cargo containers and send 1,000 teachers for revival of educational activities in the schools in earthquake-hit areas.

Provincial Cooperatives Minister Malik Muhammad Anwar announced the establishment of the cargo container hospital during a visit to the tent city established for the earthquake victims in Chakwal.

He said doctors and paramedical staff had been appointed for the proposed hospital under special instruction of Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi and medicines and equipment were being arranged.

He said the provincial government had decided to provide all possible assistance for healthcare and restoration of infrastructure in the areas affected by the earthquake. Production of artificial limbs had also been started in the city for the earthquake victims with the cooperation of doctors from UK.

Punjab Tourism Minister Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal said the provincial government would provide 1,000 teachers to earthquake-affected areas of Azad Kashmir for revival of educational activities. It would also provide 50,000 educational kits for the students.
