RAHIM YAR KHAN: Two women and a minor girl suffered burns in an acid attack allegedly during a theft in a house in Odh Colony on Jatki Basti Road, Khanpur, some 48kms from here on Saturday night.

According to Rescue 1122 sources, some unidentified thieves entered a house and collected money and mobile phones when all the family members were asleep.

The thieves, before leaving the house, allegedly threw acid on three of the family members.

As a result, Nasreen (35), Shamsa (20) and Fatima (5) suffered acid burns and were shifted to the Khanpur Tehsil Headquarter Hospital for treatment by Rescue 1122 staffers, who were called on the scene by locals.

Khanpur city police after registration of case arrested suspect Nasir who is husband of Shamsa. Nasir has enmity with his wife on cancellation of marriage agreement. The injured were later shifted to Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (RYK) where doctors said their condition was stable because acid was in a diluted form.

CYLINDER BLAST: Two persons were injured when a cylinder used for filling gas in balloons blew up while decanting in Mastan Shah area on Sunday.

As per eyewitnesses, a balloon seller, Umar Baksh, was getting a cylinder filled to inflate balloons at a shop when it exploded.

As a result, Umar’s son Farooq Ahmed (21) and daughter Sahat (16), who were accompanying him, got injured critically.

They were shifted to the Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital for treatment.

MURDERED: A woman was killed by his husband over a domestic dispute in Basti Mud Bhaya, Mouza Jhoran, in the limits of Zahirpur police in Khanpur Tehsil, some 60kms from here on Sunday.

As per police, Farooq quarreled with his wife Shakeela (28) over a petty issue and attacked her with a cleaver. As a result, Shakeela was critically wounded and died on the spot, while the suspect escaped from the scene.

The police have started investigation.
